Natural & Industrial Sepiolite

Sepiolite.

A remarkable fibrous magnesium clay — and the single mineral at the heart of Anker Mining Co. Supplied in granular and micronized grades to industrial buyers around the world.

What is sepiolite?

A naturally fibrous clay with rare industrial versatility.

Sepiolite is a hydrous magnesium silicate distinguished by its needle-like fibrous crystal structure. That microstructure gives it an unusually high surface area and porosity — the source of its exceptional absorption and thickening behaviour.

Türkiye is one of the world’s foremost sources of high-quality sepiolite, and Anker Mining Co. extracts it directly from reserves in the Eskişehir region — the same geology that has made Turkish sepiolite renowned for generations.

Where sepiolite is found

Commercial sepiolite deposits are geologically rare. Türkiye’s Anatolian basins host some of the largest and highest-grade reserves worldwide, making Turkish sepiolite a globally strategic raw material.

Key properties

Why industry values sepiolite.

Exceptional absorption

A high specific surface area and porous fibrous structure give sepiolite outstanding liquid and odour retention.

High surface area & porosity

Its microporous, needle-like structure delivers one of the highest surface areas among natural clays.

Lightweight structure

Low bulk density makes sepiolite an efficient, lightweight carrier and absorbent for industrial use.

Rheological control

In liquid systems, sepiolite acts as a natural thickener and suspension stabilizer across a wide pH range.

Thermal & chemical stability

The mineral remains stable under heat and resists chemical breakdown, suiting demanding industrial processes.

Naturally sourced

Mined directly from our Anatolian reserves and processed mechanically, with no aggressive chemical treatment.

Quality positioning

Sepiolite quality that performs above the global average.

Our sepiolite is characterized by exceptional mineral quality and performance, with properties that compare favorably with global sepiolite resources. For demanding industrial applications, that quality translates into consistency, efficiency and confidence of supply.

We deliberately avoid unsupported numerical claims. Once our official laboratory analysis is finalized, the positioning on this page will be updated with data-backed figures.

Technical Data & Laboratory Analysis
